Back in the day…
Originally a horse property, the land was used for an orchard before the venture into the pet care industry.
Did you know that between 1990 and 1994, the property originally had a fruit orchard on it?!
There was a selection of peach and nectarine trees planted on 3/4 of the property!
Simple Beginnings…
Michael Walker, along with his partner at the time Leanne, built the business West Coast Pet Care Centre from scratch.
West Coast Pet Care Centre was originally established back in 1994, since then our facility has changed and grown over the years.

It was also called West Coast after the West Coast Eagles, the Aussie rules football team.
Hear about Jade’s story in the image on the right. She tells a tale about the daily runnings of West Coast in the early days.
The renovations and expansions…
Our Cattery was built as a separate building in 2003.
Our reception and check-in area was renovated in 2003.
Our current dog boarding facility was built in 2006.
Over the years, West Coast has grown.
We once had a resident cat, a cream Burmese called Scout.
Our pet taxi service commenced around 2001.
Our Pet Taxi was one of kind back then, with the options to either have your pets collected from their home or one of our partnering vets still available today.
Our first Board & Train, and Dog training services commenced in 2001.
West Coast once expanded into other brands and business ventures…
Did you know that in 2009 to 2018 our online shop use to be branded under Pet’s Providore before being taken back under the West Coast brand?
We had a large range of pet products. However, we now only focus on niche products that are not only special to us but where we believe will be well-loved by the pets of Perth.
Did you know that our dog training use to operate under DoggieWould Training (Doggie Would, If Doggie Could) between 2008 and 2014, before transitioning back under the West Coast brand?
Our Dog Training program also had a simpler start, which has now developed into a big part of West Coast with a large range of services for the dog owners of Perth.
WA Weekender…
Did you know, West Coast Pet Care Centre has appeared on WA Weekender a few times over the years.
West Coast Pet Care Centre Today…
Today, West Coast Pet Care Centre is a well-established business part of the Perth community. We are continually growing and improving, always aiming to do the best by our staff, clients and pets of Perth.
Within the last year, there have been hurdles. The unfortunate passing of West Coast founder Michael Walker in July last year, who lost his battle with VHL (Von Hipple Lindau), and most recently, the impacts of COVID-19 on international, domestic and local tourism, thus impacting West Coast Pet Care Centre normal operations.
A thank you to our fantastic team and wonderful clients over the years, and a massive thank you to those who have stuck with us over the last year. We are looking forward to growing as a business into the new normal with you all.
