Dog Exercise Areas
Some of the best dog friendly hikes are located in the Perth Hills. So, if your dog likes to run amok in nature here’s some great places to take your furry child/children out for a fun day out:
The Fred Jacoby Park near the Mundaring Weir Hotel hosts the Dog Friendly Portagabra Trail, a hilly traverse of bush that will give you and your furry friend a great nature workout. The 3.31km loop lets you sample a taste of the Australian bush without consuming too much time out of your day. If you’re up for it, you can tackle the vertical metres passing through tranquil surrounds and exposed granite until you reach the top. The views back to the Mundaring Weir, Water Pipeline and Helena Valley will be the highlight of your nature walk!
If you’re feeling like more of a challenge the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail is great way to explore this historic Mundaring Weir precinct. The heritage trail is a 41km loop however you can explore the Mundaring Weir precinct via the Munda Biddi or Kep track where you’ll bypass the former Mundaring Station Platform, Mundaring Community Sculpture Park, Museum and Arts Centre.
Dogs are not allowed in the John Forrest section of the trail so it’s best to explore the trails between Darlington and Mundaring.
Of course, the Mundaring precinct isn’t the only dog friendly area to get your four-legged friend up and moving. Head on over here to check out some of the best places to take your dog walking in Perth.
Enjoy Coffee and Breakfast with your Dog
A great place for breakfast or coffee before heading off on the numerous walking trails around Mundaring is A Patch of Country located in the House of Mundaring.
