Kim R. Cert3 dog behaviour, Dip Aqua
With over 17 years’ experience caring for Perth’s pets Kim is well versed in what makes happy dogs and happy owners. In her time at West Coast Pet Care Kim has undertaken many roles, from Animal Attendant, to Groomer, Dog Trainer to General Manager. Always working towards providing Perth pet owners with the best of accommodation, services and expertise, as well as giving back to the community and helping encourage our youth to embrace the joys of working with animals Kim is very happy with the enthusiasm, experience and vision of the team of trainers available through West Coast’sTraining.
Having worked with many dog breeds and enjoying training and competing with her Siberian Huskies and German Shepherd Kim understands the joys, tears and frustrations of working with not only dogs that love to go out and work, but those that just love to get out and run … unfortunately not always where owners would like them to run.
As our General Manager Kim recently handed the training reins over to Iain knowing, with complete certainty, he is more than capable of carrying on what Kim created. This will free up Kim’s time to allow more wonderful services to be offered to our current and future clients.
Iain M. BAppSc (Psyc), MSC (animal Behaviour)
A great addition to our training team, Iain comes with experience in a wide range of fields from tracking, obedience, retrieving and police type dog sports, has successfully competed both nationally and internationally and is highly qualified in both Psychology and Animal Behaviour.
With the same training beliefs and methodology as Kim, Iain has easily slipped into his role of Training Manager at West Coast’sTraining with ease.with his guidance we will be able to help even more dogs and their owners live happier and safer lives together.
Iain has spent many years helping owners who’s dogs have gotten out of control or caused serious injury. His focus is now on trying to prevent Perth’s owners from having to go through what so many have in the past by teaching owners how to understand their dog and give their dogs the leader they need and the ability to work as a team with their family.
Kylie vR. Cert3 dog behaviour
Having recently gained her Certificate 3 of Dog Behaviour and Training from the National Dog Trainers Federation, and working with Iain for the past few months running classes, Kylie is all set for a long and successful career helping dogs and their owners enjoy a more harmonious life together.
Kylie is enjoying working closely with Iain to improve her knowledge of dogs, their behaviours and the quickest and easiest way to help them see what we, as humans, require from them. She is then using all this knowledge to not only work with our residential dogs, but to help their owners see that we humans can make small changes in our handling and interaction with dogs and it can have a dramatic effect on how the dog perceives their life in the pack, what is expected of them and how to work through issues like over-excitement to make not only the owner, but the dog’s life more enjoyable and rewarding.
Not only is Kylie dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and their owners, she is also actively promoting and educating people about her favourite breed, the Tamaskan. Being a proud Tamaskan owner Kylie will happily talk to people for hours about the virtues of this little known breed.
