After months of planning and hours of setting up, finally the day had come! Despite an early shower and what looked to be unending grey skies, the event went smoothly and we couldn’t be more pleased.
Over 100 participants
A crowd of 107 people joined us on the day, along with 75 of their canine companions. With the joint efforts of Sandgroper Studios, Barkday Pawty, InTouch Bowen and each and every attendee, we managed to raise $837.75 for Guide Dogs WA! We cannot thank you enough for your help!
It was great to see everyone braving the weather with smiles on their faces and we loved seeing all your four-legged friends too. Even they seemed to enjoy the exercise and relish the brief moments of sunshine! Some pooches were particularly memorable, dressed to the nines for the special occasion and 100% deserving of their prizes and the best-dressed title.
The Photos and the snacks
Jen from Sandgroper Studios took some awesome action shots of the walk and some gorgeous portraits afterwards too. To get your hands on a copy, get in touch with her through her Facebook page – she’s got so many wonderful photos to choose from!
Pete from Barkday Pawty had a spectacular array of treats on display. Crispy chicken feet, yoghurt drop paw prints, kangaroo patties – everything a dog could hope for and more! And Anja from InTouch Bowen was the perfect person to turn to after the walk to help soothe your dog’s aches and pains.
Guide Dogs WA
At West Coast Pet Care Centre, we’re a team of animal lovers and so selecting a charity to fundraise for was a no-brainer. We love what Guide Dogs WA do for the people of Western Australia living with blindness and vision impairment and wanted to do everything we could to help them on their mission.
As we learnt from Debra from Guide Dogs WA, it takes over two years and in excess of $30,000 to raise and train a Guide Dog. They rely on support from the community to make this happen, so every little bit helps! If you’re interested in helping more, there are so many ways you can make a difference. Visit the Guide Dogs WA website at www.guidedogswa.com.au to see what you can do for the cause.
Once again, thank you all for your passion and determination – we couldn’t have done it without you!
